1. When is the next class available?
There's open enrollment all year long at Winter Park Tech. Please call for seat availability at 407.622.2900 ext: 2239 or email the instructor at martha.garzon@ocps.net.
2. How can I apply to the Web Design Program?
a) Contact the Instructor at 407.622.2900 ext: 2239 and make an appointment to learn more about the program.
b) Talk to a Counselor in the registration Office 407.622.2906, they will guide you through the process of enrolling.
The Registration Office is open Monday through Thursday from 7:45 am to 7:30 pm and Friday from 7:45 am to 3:00 pm (Hours of operation may vary during holiday weeks. Call to verify hours during these times).
Counselors are available during school hours:
- Monday - Thursday
8:00 am - 7:30 pm - Friday
8:00 am - 3:00 pm
3. What is the total cost and length of the program?
Total program cost (2 semesters) is approximately $2,000 + books/other fees. Usually a full time student, assisting Monday to Friday 8:00am to 2:45pm, will finish the program in 1 year. Students with prior computer, development and design experience may complete the program sooner.
4. Do I have to pay for the entire program at once?
No, you enroll for a semester at a time and pay only for that semester. Also, you don’t need to buy your books all at once, you can buy them as you advance in the program.
5. Is financial aid available?
There are several types of financial aid. Your counselor and the financial aid officer can advise you of what is available.

6. Do I need a computer at home to enroll in the Web Design Program?
No, you don't need to have a computer at home, but it will be great if you can have one. Since the program is so intense, all assignments are done in the classroom. When some students feel a little behind or want to review at home, they use their personal computers.
7. Where can I expect to work after graduating?
The jobs available are diverse. You might work for a web design company, internet services provider, a big corporation that has its own design department, or on a free-lance basis. We have been working closely with a number of local companies who are offering internships, job shadowing, and even jobs to our recent graduates.
If you work for a company, you can expect to make $15 - $25 dollars an hour or $25,000 - $50,000 a year. If you work for yourself, you can charge more per hour or per job and make more money that way. But you need to understand that there will be no paid benefits (insurance, retirement, etc.) with this choice.
9. Will you get me a job when I get out?
Our main goal is to find a job to every graduate however; there is no guarantee of a job after completing the program. Winter Park Tech also has a job placement coordinator who can assist you in finding a job before and after graduation.
10. What about CIW certification?
CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) is an Internet vendor-neutral certification designed to help career changers enter the IT industry. It focuses mainly on Internet skills and networking, not design. Our industry partners agree that certification in the Central Florida area is not necessary for procuring a job.
11. What is the difference between Digital Design and Web Design?
Although the programs sound similar and offer some of the same software, the focus for Digital Design and Web Design is different.
Digital Design focuses in print, graphic design with some multimedia. If you study digital design when you graduate it's more likely that you'll get a job as a graphic designer. For example, you can work for a magazine, a newspaper, book companies etc.
Web Design has a bigger emphasis in multimedia (video and audio), interactivity and web. This means that if you would like to see your work on a screen (TV, web, ipods, etc.) rather than on paper and learn animation and 3D modeling you should study web design.
The Web Design Program also includes some print. Students learn Illustrator and Photoshop. They create T-shirts, postcards, illustrations, buttons, brochures, business cards, and logos. But we do not teach how to create multi-page documents and PRE-PRESS work like book layout, color separation, trapping, stripping, proofing, platemaking, and other functions performed by the printer on the on the stripping table before going to press.
12. Can I transfer my college credits to any college in Florida, once I finish the Web Design Program?
Yes, if you complete the Web Design Program at Winter Park Tech you can earn college credits to continue your education by transferring to a local college like Valencia Community College or other colleges in Florida!

Yes, The dual enrollment program at Winter Park Tech provides high school students the opportunity to take technical elective courses while obtaining the required academic credits to graduate at their local school.
This program allows students to begin preparation for a career of their choice, at no cost to them, while still in high school. Free transportation and textbooks are provided.

14. Where is Winter Park Tech located?
Winter Park Tech Main Campus is located in northeast Orange County. Main access highways are Highway 17-92, Lee Road and Interstate 4. The campus is located at the corner of Webster Avenue and Denning Drive, one block east of Highway 17-92 and two miles from the Winter Park business district. The entrance to the campus faces the north side of Winter Park Village.
